Haha! It's funny, I always think of human!Karkat has having diabetes or some other blood condition rather than albinism because it is a skin condition and not a blood condition, but I still like him being albino as well.
eheheh I'm the opposite. I never really liked the blood issues some people give him, because in the comic his mutation never really affected his health at all, just his appearance.
I think albinism works better for karkat in relation to canon, because it doesn't affect him much physically, but it makes him "look like a freak" like his troll blood would, and he wouldn't be able to go outside much due to his sunlight sensitivity in the same way troll karkat didn't leave his hive much for fear of drones discovering him, and also there are things he can do to hide it, like how he made his text grey in canon he could dye his hair and wear contacts to look more 'normal'
and like in canon, it's just an interesting rare thing that makes him different that he could get like bullied for, but doesn't really have side effects once all his friends know about it and accept it. having a blood disease would just make people like pity him or something and nothing would change if told people about it or not.
Good point. I must admit I would probably go for albinism except it isn't a blood condition and blood is Karkat's aspect. It's what we, as fans, associate with him. I see you're point though, maybe a more affective illness might be Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, which is a blood condition that affects the skin. It causes red spot, bruising and abnormal bleeding. I would think that humanstuck!Karkat would really hide something like that to protect his guardian as well because it would appear that he is being abused, when he isn't.
